“Beyond the artistic talent, Kayla has the ideal personality for personal and meaningful lifetime events. She listens and remembers every detail, reads a room and crowd skillfully, and puts herself in almost unnoticeable positions while ensuring that she gets every shot from every angle. ”

Taylor and Sam’s romantic summer microwedding in the Berkshires was such a memorable day and introduced me to one of my favorite New England venues - The Mount.
Jessica & Timothy had their summer wedding at Captain Lawrence Brewing in Elmsford, NY. Faith and family are both incredibly important to the couple and they featured both things beautifully throughout their day.
Documentary wedding photography captures the genuine emotions and candid moments of a wedding day, focusing on storytelling through images. This style, also known as “wedding photojournalism”, emphasizes the unfolding events and interactions among guests, rather than posed or staged photographs. By documenting the day as it naturally unfolds, a photographer provides a raw and authentic representation of the celebration, allowing couples to relive their experiences through the lens of real moments. This approach not only highlights the beauty of the day but also the unique personalities and relationships that come together to make it memorable.
Here are 7 great reasons why you should consider hiring a documentary-style photographer for your wedding!
Simone and Shawn originally booked me for their Fall 2024 wedding at the beautiful Four Seasons One Dalton, but less than a month after booking I got an email from them telling me that plans had changed! The couple found out that they were expecting a baby so they decided to adjust their plans to have a much more intimate wedding with their closest family in May.

“Kayla was absolutely incredible to work with. Her ability to find the special little moments is incredible. We were both nervous about being in front of a camera and Kayla quickly put us at ease. She was extremely professional and organized in the time leading up to our wedding…Many of the moments she captured brought us to tears. If you’re looking for a wedding photographer, Kayla is the one!”

“Kayla is the most wonderful photographer we could have asked for! We hired her for our backyard wedding as well as a snowy engagement shoot, and we absolutely love the photos! They're so beautiful and caught the energy of the wedding in such a candid and genuine way. She was such a delight to work with, and made us feel totally comfortable. Leading up to the wedding Kayla was super responsive, and on the day of she was somehow completely unobtrusive while capturing every picture we could have asked for.”

“Beyond the artistic talent, Kayla has the ideal personality for personal and meaningful lifetime events. She listens and remembers every detail, reads a room and crowd skillfully, and puts herself in almost unnoticeable positions while ensuring that she gets every shot from every angle. For us, with a very small wedding venue that had some unusual layout features, Kayla adapted and used the space to her advantage in a way that demonstrated her substantial ability to be in just the right place at just the right time. She was a zero-stress and calming element of a what is unavoidably a stressful (and wonderful!) day for a bride and groom - she communicated her few informational needs clearly and worked perfectly with our day-of wedding planner…We simply can't imagine a more positive overall experience. She is an artist and a professional in equal measures and would be a massive asset to an event of any size or type.”

“My partner and I worked with Kayla for our engagement and wedding photos. I cannot say enough good things about her and the results! We loved our photos, felt truly comfortable the whole time, and really enjoyed the experience of working with her. She's a true professional that was a joy to be around during such an important time -- we were able to hand off to Kayla and enjoy our big day with zero concerns. Kayla went out of her way to accommodate our requests, and was always incredibly open and clear to make sure we got the absolute best results possible. Her editing and turnaround time were also on point. We were so happy with the experience, we recommended her to multiple friends, who have all been blown away by her service. I whole-heartedly recommend working with Kayla!”

“Kayla was the perfect fit for our Vermont wedding. We were looking for someone who would be able to do candid shots well, and she perfectly captured tears of joy, laughter, and a night full of dancing. We so appreciated her prompt responses and organization, and she coordinated wedding albums for us and our parents afterwards, helping me put together beautiful albums without the stress of designing it myself (admittedly not my strong suit). We hope to find an excuse to work with her again soon!”

“Kayla is absolutely the best! We’ve had the honor of working with her as our family photographer for the past several years. From an engagement shoot to newborn photos, Kayla always captures beautiful moments that are authentic and creative. When she came to our home to photograph our three-week old baby, she was a calming presence and made us feel comfortable and at ease. Kayla is a dream to work with - patient, kind, and the upmost professional - photos are easy to view and always shared quickly. We wish she still lived in New York! If you’re in the Greater Boston area, you’re very lucky to have such a gem nearby.”
Rita & Sami’s Boston hotel wedding at Fairmont Copley Plaza Hotel was a really fun mix of glamorous, luxury and raucous, wild party. The Fairmont Copley is one of the most iconic Boston hotels so I was excited to photograph my first wedding there. I was not disappointed - what a place!
